Setting up the Shopify SMS Opt-in Box

To draw phone numbers from the Shopify checkout you should set up Shopify SMS marketing box. To activate, please follow the steps below:

How to Setup

  1. Head to the 'Settings' section in your Shopify and select 'Checkout'.



  2. Scroll down to 'Marketing options', check the 'SMS Marketing' box and then click 'Save'.



  3. Shopify will require you to set up your terms of service and privacy policy in your legal settings for your store to be fully compliant. To do this go to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Policies and add full compliance text in the Privacy Policy section.




  4. If you manage a US/Canada store and follow TCPA/CTIA regulations, you can use the following compliance text: 

    TEXT MARKETING NOTIFICATIONS
    By subscribing to [CompanyName] text notifications, you agree to receive automated marketing text messages from us about our products and services at the phone number you provided when you subscribed. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt-out. 

    If you manage an EU/International store and follow GDPR, please use the following text:

    TEXT MARKETING TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
    We are using a text messaging platform, which is subject to the following terms and conditions. By opting in for our text marketing and notifications, you agree to these terms and conditions.By entering your phone number in the checkout and initialising a purchase, subscribing via our subscription form or a keyword, you agree that we may send you text notifications (for your order, including abandoned cart reminders) and text marketing offers. You acknowledge that consent is not a condition for any purchase.Your phone number, name, and purchase information will be shared with our SMS platform "Blueprint". This data will be used for sending you targeted marketing messages and notifications. If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving text marketing messages and notifications reply with STOP. Message and data rates may apply.

  5. From your Shopify Admin Settings go to Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit Languages

  6. Select 'Checkout & System' to customise your checkout checkbox. You can fill in

    -The accept SMS checkbox label
    -Privacy policy
    -Terms of service

Hint: in order to find these sections in the panel, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page. You can use CTRL+F afterward to quickly locate the boxes.
